About Us

What We Are:

The Open Door Centre is a day resource for adults with learning disabilities. We welcome members from all walks of life into our centre to enrich their lives socially and give them transferable skills that would aid them in their daily lives.

Our members are encouraged to be independent adults, understanding their rights and choices, in order to become respected, confident, valued members of society.

Our members have monthly meetings to decide the day-to-day running of the centre. Members are elected by their peers to represent their point of view on the management committee.

  • The Open Door Centre exists to make a positive difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities, enabling our members to achieve their highest potential.

We do this by providing a range of activities within a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment, and members are involved in every level of decision making about the running of the Centre.

Members are encouraged to be independent adults, understanding their rights and choices, in order to become respected, confident, valued members of society.

  • Our Members are provided with freshly cooked two course meal daily by our chef. We also have routine refreshment breaks throughout the day.

  • The Open Door Centre believes that safeguarding is key to providing an excellent service for our members. We have experienced safeguarding staff team members, who understand the importance of providing a safe environment for our members to achieve their highest potential.
